Wilderspool Wood: A green oasis

Wilderspool Wood is a haven for wildlife and there is a lot to see as you explore! The woodland habitat is home to birds, bats, insects, hedgehogs and much more.

 

batAs you follow the woodland path, look out for the bird and bat boxes up in the trees.

The ponds are home to many species of waterfowl, fish, amphibians and other pond-life, and the specially designed ‘duck island’ provides a safe nesting place in spring. Mother duck with her ducklings

 

Woodland plants including snowdrops, bluebells, daffodils and many other wild flowers frequent the woodland floor under the shade of the trees.

Fancying a spot of lunch? The Picnic area at the bottom of the wood, adjacent to The Great Hall, is the ideal setting to experience the tranquil ambience of Wilderspool, and you never know quite what wildlife you’ll see.
