As you follow the woodland path, look out for the bird and bat boxes up in the trees.
The ponds are home to many species of waterfowl, fish, amphibians and other pond-life, and the specially designed ‘duck island’ provides a safe nesting place in spring.
Woodland plants including snowdrops, bluebells, daffodils and many other wild flowers frequent the woodland floor under the shade of the trees.
And you will also see many species of tree in Wilderspool Wood including sycamore, horse chestnut, English oak, common beech and common ash.
Fancying a spot of lunch? The Picnic area at the bottom of the wood, adjacent to The Great Hall, is the ideal setting to experience the tranquil ambience of Wilderspool, and you never know quite what wildlife you’ll see.
