We will work to develop and implement the following actions:

• Conduct an energy audit and set energy usage targets.

• Develop a dedicated water supply for the Centre.

• Conduct a feasibility study on using effluent to generate methane to provide energy through a CHP unit.

• Review all lighting and replace all lamps with lower amp/LED versions wherever practicable. Install sensor controlled lighting in service corridors.

• Recycle used lamps.

• Reduce our reliance on CO2 refrigerant by replacing it in all cooling systems.

• Reduce our CO2 emissions through adjustment of air volumes in relation to air quality

• Give preference to materials and other products from sustainable sources when making purchasing decisions.

• Review waste procedures and encourage tenants to improve recycling.

• Develop new ways to encourage customer waste recycling.

• Implement the recovery of waste paper in the management suite and extend the facility to tenants.

• Recycle printer and photocopier cartridges.

• Develop facilities to encourage employees, tenant staff and customers to use bicycles for travel to the Centre.

• Develop improved public transport services and encourage customers and staff to use them through the travel plan.

• Develop and promote a car share scheme for retail and Centre staff.

• Reduce corporate mileage and seek alternative fuels for company vehicles where possible

• Develop a planting programme of native trees and shrubs, including those that encourage wildlife.

• Regenerate Wilderspool Woods, develop a nature trail and encourage its use.

• Introduce new awards – for the Best Trafford Centre Green Bright Idea and the Best Green Tenant.

• Publicise The Trafford Centre Environmental Policy and make it available to all tenants, and on the web site for public viewing.

• Use Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Industry to work with other local organisations to develop environmental initiatives.
